Self-care: A brief overview

Self-care is taking care of yourself and doing what you need to to feel relaxed at the moment. It’s not necessarily one certain thing that helps everyone.

This may seem self-evident, but there’s a couple posts floating around claiming that self-care is exactly this or that. Truth is, everyone needs different things. The bath bomb or perfume that relaxes one person may cause an allergic reaction in another person.

Taking care of basic needs does help everyone. No question about that. But beyond that, self-care is meant to make you feel better, and everyone feels better in different ways. What refreshes one person may completely stress out another. So that version of self-care may not work for them.

Self-care could involve lotion, or a scented candle, or, like mentioned above, a bath bomb. It could be an early-morning walk or a cup of tea, or a favorite book. It could be all or none of these things. Everyone’s different.

Try out different ways of relaxation. Find out what works for you, and then do it. Take care of yourself.

You are not alone.

Love, Draconic Ally.
