Fake Help

“You’re fine.”

“Stop being so sad.”

“Just think happy thoughts!”

“Others have it worse.”

“You have nothing to be sad about!”

How many times have we heard these words?

How many times were they actually helpful?

Almost never, right?

I know the feeling…

I’ve had so much ‘fake help’ in my life. People who say they care about and love you, then treat you otherwise. People who tell you to get over it. People who pretend they know your life and know what’s going on in your head.

You know what?

That’s not the kind of people you need.

You know what else?

You deserve better. FIND better.

Find people who say they love you and prove it. Find people who tell you to take care of your needs, who tell you that it’s gonna be okay in the end. People who don’t judge you without knowing your story.

It’s gonna be alright, I promise. I promise you…

One more thing: don’t BE fake help… be a real friend.

Find real friends.

Love, Ruby.

  1. Ugh, I grew up having fake help drilled into my brain, and feeling guilty for not finding the fake help helpful. Consequently, I have to keep reminding myself not to give the fake help that got so deep into my brain.
